KdF’s Fleural Affair

Krewe des Fleurs, in celebration of its 10th anniversary, hosted our first annual Fleural Affair to benefit Grounds Krewe on the Spring Equinox, March 20th, 2025.

Grounds Krewe is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission to promote waste prevention, recycling, and sustainable products at New Orleans special events. With an eye on keeping all of the fun and revelry of New Orleans’ signature events, but a lot less of the single-use plastic and waste that will end up in landfills, Grounds Krewe achieves its mission in a variety of ways. It maintains a catalogue of sustainable throws for krewes to consider, it manages parade and events recycling stations, and it engages its own roving krewe of cyclists that circulate along parade routes to collect cans and recyclable materials.

Krewe des Fleurs was born out of a desire to make Mardi Gras a much more environmentally friendly experience by passing out only sustainable throws and never using single-use plastic.
